The Stupidest Leadership Mistakes I’ve made

Over on Tim Steven’s blog he wrote about some of the mistakes that he has made in the past with his leadership. A couple of them really struck a chord with me.

1. Putting projects before people. It is so easy for me some times to get so focused on the task at hand that I fail to stop and build what’s most important….relationships.

2. Trying to fix the problem rather than the process. It’s like covering a gapping wound with a Snoopy band-aid. So many church leaders wonder why things never change at their church. It’s because of this. Systems aren’t in place that allow for change.

3. Delegating tasks instead of responsibility. Instead of petty things to check off a list, give people ownership. Allow them to lead big and allow them to fail big.
